Having grown up here, I am proud to call Fairfax my home. I have seen firsthand the benefit of world-class schools, plentiful jobs, and a quality of life that few places in America can claim. Unfortunately, I have also had to bear witness to its steady decline.
Oppressive traffic congestion caused by poor planning that will raise our taxes and smother our economy with toll fees at five times current rates in nine years, an ever expanding bureaucracy bent on being the largest landlord in the county that wants to compete with the private sector instead of supporting it, and returns on our investments in education deteriorating while the costs continue to increase, these are just a few examples of the direction our county is going in. 40 years ago, a group of visionaries blazed a trail that helped put Fairfax on the map and made our county the economic engine of Virginia. We have come a long way in the past forty years and in that time enjoyed great prosperity due in great part to their vision but also to our good fortune to reside in the shadow of our Nation’s capital, but I believe even more so, due to Virginia’s right to work laws that have given us an edge on counties in Maryland that compete for the same opportunities that we do. With great success comes the burden of responsibility to advance ones prosperity in a way that is sustainable, taking care to leave only opportunity for ones progeny.
It is for that reason that I have decided to run for Chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
